Heinz is delighted to be supporting the My Shop is Your Shop campaign as we have a long standing commitment to helping independent convenience retailers grow sales and maximise profits from the fast growing grocery category. As part of this ongoing commitment Heinz launched a category leadership initiative ‘Grow Grocery’ in February 2007. ‘Grow Grocery’ offers impartial advice to help retailers harness the spending power of grocery category shoppers.
Far from being the low value, distress purchase and low impulse category that some retailers perceive it to be, grocery shoppers offer retailers an untapped opportunity to boost sales.
The UK convenience grocery category is in great health, spurred on by shoppers spending 35% more per visit than in 2005.[i] Convenience retailers should look to capitalise on the lucrative power of these shoppers by paying more attention to their grocery displays. Heinz’s ‘Grow Grocery’ campaign communicates simple steps retailers can take to increase sales in the grocery category and reclaim their share of the 21 million unit sales that are currently being missed each year.[ii]

The National Federation of Retail Newsagents (NFRN) represents over 19,000 newsagents and convenience stores in the UK and ROI and is recognised as the government referral body for representation of news and magazine retailers in the industry.
