The My Shop Is Your Shop - Local And Proud Of It campaign will climax on 1st June 2004 which has been assigned National Independents' Day. This will be the inaugural event when, across the nation, everyone will recognise and celebrate the role the local shop plays in our community. From local retailers and retail suppliers to community leaders and central Government, everyone will join forces to promote that the independent retail sector is a vital business sector within the UK economy.

The industry decided that something should be done to protect and support this cherished institution that is the local shop and therefore the 'My Shop Is Your Shop' campaign was born.

Details on how National Independents' Day will be used to raise funds for local community charities will follow soon.
